Welcome

During the past 30 years Wessex Medical Research has raised some £17 million in voluntary donations, which has been applied by our Trustees to support critical medical research projects

However, the need is always to do more to fund research -

a) to fight disease and tackle the underlying causes of ill health in our community;

b) to find better treatments and, potentially, cures for conditions that affect every age group - from infant asthma to Alzheimer's dementia in our aged population - and many, many more conditions that affect each and every one of us.

At the beginning of our 30th Anniversary year, we adopted a new banner - Wessex Medical Research - and a new logo which we hope will put across to the general public more clearly and succinctly what we are in business for.

London Marathon 2008

Unfortunately one of our runners had to drop out just days before this prestiguous event, after much deliberation and teeth gnashing, due to a rather serious knee injury. We thank her for her tenacity and the wonderful effort she put into her training and in raising funds for the Wessex Medical Research Innovation fund. Our thanks and appreciation to her sponsors, the majority of who have decided to donate their moneys to this worthy cause anyway. She'll be back, so watch this space.

Well done and Congratulations to all the runners who have completed this arduous course. Our thanks to the Golden Bond place holders and volunteers who have obtained their own places via the public ballot. Like Heather above they have put in a lot of time an effort in their training and fundraising and it is much appreciated.
